Brazil has confirmed an 8th case of monkeypox

The Ministry of Health has recorded a new case of the disease in the municipality of Maricá, in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

The Ministry of Health confirmed on Sunday 19 June 2022 the 8th case of monkeypox in the country. The case was filed in the municipality of Maricá, Rio de Janeiro State.

According to the ministry, this patient has no history of traveling abroad, but has been in contact with foreigners.

In a statement, the directory said the 25 -year -old has a consistent and non -complication clinical picture, and is still being monitored by the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and the State and County Departments of Health. .

The patient was isolated and the people in contact with him were examined.

Currently, Brazil has 4 confirmed cases in São Paulo, 2 in Rio Grande do Sul and 2 in Rio de Janeiro. A further 6 cases have been implicated for investigation.
